Building on the posts exploring representation and identity – SKINS + SIGNS , iconography becomes a key element. Images and symbols are adopted, adapted and transformed to represent specific messages, values and aspirations- from the use of the doric column, to explicit “duck architecture” and “decorated sheds”(referencing Venturi). From static structures and buildings, toto mobile vehicles and signs, we see these icons and symbols flowing through our cities and urban fabric.
